1. Information We Collect
Hazel's Style collects information you provide directly, including:
- Account information (email, name, password)
- Profile photos and avatars you upload
- Wardrobe items, outfit data, and associated images
- Location data (zip code for weather-based outfit suggestions)
- Usage data and preferences (theme, vibe, preferred image views)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve our wardrobe management services
- Process AI-powered features (clothing analysis, virtual try-on, photo booth, mannequin staging)
- Deliver weather-based outfit suggestions using your zip code
- Send notifications about your account, AI processing status, and feature updates
- Connect you with stylists (if you choose to use this feature)
- Process payments and manage your token balance
3. AI and Image Processing
When you use AI features, your images are processed by our AI services (including Google Gemini) to analyze clothing, detect items, generate mannequin staging, and produce virtual try-on images. We do not use your images to train AI models. AI-generated images are stored in your account and are not shared with other users unless you explicitly choose to share them (e.g., via Fling or public lookbooks).
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. Images are stored in Azure Blob Storage with secure, time-limited access controls. Authentication tokens are encrypted in transit and at rest. We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your personal information.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Hazel's Style:
- Azure Blob Storage (image storage)
- Google Gemini (AI image processing and analysis)
- SMTP2Go (email delivery)
- Twilio (SMS verification code delivery — see Section 8)
- Hazel Hippo (authentication, token management, and billing)
- Stripe (payment processing — we do not store your payment card details)
- Open-Meteo (weather data — receives only your zip code, no personal information)
Each third-party service processes only the minimum data necessary to provide its function. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.
6. Browser Extension (Inspo Capture)
Our optional Chrome extension, Inspo Capture, allows you to save images from any website to your Inspo Mailbox. When you use the extension:
- Image URLs or image data are sent to our servers only when you explicitly right-click and choose to capture, or use the screenshot tool
- The extension does not monitor, collect, or transmit your browsing history or activity
- Authentication tokens are stored locally in Chrome's secure storage
- The extension's content script runs on all pages solely to enable blob URL conversion and the screenshot selection overlay — it does not read or collect page content
- The page URL where you captured an image may be stored as a source reference for your convenience
7. Mobile App
When you use the Hazel's Style mobile app, we may additionally collect:
- Device information (device type and OS version, for compatibility)
- Push notification tokens (to deliver notifications about AI processing, wardrobe updates, and social features)
- Camera and photo library access (only when you choose to upload photos for wardrobe items, avatars, or haul captures)
Camera and photo access is never used without your explicit action. Push notification preferences can be managed in your account settings at any time.
8. SMS / Text Messages
If you add a phone number to your account, we collect and process information related to our SMS programs. Adding a phone number is optional — the rest of Hazel's Style works without one.
What we collect:
- Your mobile phone number
- The date and time of your opt-in and any subsequent opt-out (STOP) or help (HELP) requests
- Message delivery status and carrier-reported errors
- A one-way SHA-256 hash of your phone number, used to match you with friends already on the service without exposing raw numbers
How we use it:
- To send one-time 6-digit verification codes when you add or change your phone number, sign in, or recover your account
- To deliver friend-invitation SMS messages that you (or another verified user) explicitly initiate by tapping a specific contact
- To honor opt-out and help requests and maintain regulatory compliance records
What we don't do:
We do not share or sell SMS opt-in data or phone numbers to third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. We never send marketing, promotional, or transactional messages outside the verification and friend-invitation use cases described above. Our SMS provider (Twilio) processes messages on our behalf and is contractually prohibited from using your number for any other purpose.
Your controls:
- Reply STOP to any message to immediately opt out. We will not send further messages to that number, from any sender, until you opt back in
- Reply HELP for help and our support contact
- Remove your phone number entirely from Settings → Phone Number → Remove
- Toggle the "Discoverable by phone" setting off at any time to remove yourself from friend-match results without removing the number
Standard message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Message frequency is low — typically fewer than 2 messages per month for verification, and friend-invitation messages occur only when explicitly triggered by a user. 9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and associated data
- Export your wardrobe data
- Opt out of push notifications and marketing communications
- Opt out of SMS messages by replying STOP or removing your number in Settings
- Withdraw consent for AI processing (by discontinuing use of AI features)

10. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and uploaded images are permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymized usage statistics may be retained for service improvement. AI-generated images are deleted along with the associated wardrobe items or account. SMS opt-in and opt-out records are retained for the period required by applicable telecommunications regulations (typically 4 years from the date of the last interaction).
11. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies to maintain your session and preferences. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies. We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.
12. Children's Privacy
Hazel's Style is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
13. International Users
Hazel's Style is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the service from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the service, you consent to this transfer. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), you may have additional rights under GDPR — contact us to exercise them.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes via email or through the app. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was most recently revised.
